This technique was originally started by a British artist Julian Opie. His first piece if this work was the cover for a compilation by British band Blur, Blur: The Best Of. The cover shows the four band members made into animated character using bold bright colours and lines. Key features of the face are still kept such as the detail in the hair, mouth and nose are kept but even the eyes are replaced with two black dots which highlights the animated effect. I really like this technique because it is very individual and even expresses them the way they want to be seen.
Original Opie-Self
To produce an Opie-Self Portrait in Photoshop the technique only uses the basic tools. Firstly the contours are highlighted with bold lines and then the spaces are filled with bold colours.
